4 Month's Wait To See Your Doctor? Not With Direct Care
Updated: Mar 21

Today was the day I work at a moonlighting job. One of my patients was a very kind woman, that greeted me with a smile as soon as I entered her room
"Hello, My Name is Dr. Tarr, nice to meet you"
"Nice to meet you too doctor. I'm kind of nervous, I have some ingrown nails, I called around to different offices here in Phoenix back in November, and I'm going to see a podiatrist in March to have them removed permanently."
"Wait...so you called in November and arent being seen until March?"
"Yes....they told me even with the infection, the earliest they could see me is March..."
Imagine, faithfully paying your monthly insurance premiums every month, and when the moment comes that you truly need to see a specialist urgently, you can't be seen for FOUR MONTHS, even with an infection.
Direct care is so needed, and in so many ways, and this conversation highlights a huge problem with access to doctors, even when someone has insurance coverage. Unfortunately, even with health insurance, this is in no way a guarantee for speedy, specialized, care.
One of the beauties of having a direct care practice is being able to provide care to patients on the day they contact me. because direct care doctors like myself are not contracted with insurance panels, we also aren't held to the rules of insurance companies like required prior authorizations, referrals, or only a certain number of specialists in a city being accepted on any insurance panel. Direct care is simple, you contact your doctor, they see you in a timely fashion, you pay them directly for the service they provide and that's it. No waiting game.
If you would like to make an appointment with me, at Direct Podiatry Arizona, click the yellow box at the top right-hand corner of the screen. I do offer a 15-minute free consultation. Have a great Day, and Take care.
